About the Artists

Josef and Susan Keys are both established artists and teachers in the Cork area. They are graduates of the Slade School of Fine Arts - part of University College, London.

Josef was taught for eight years by Frank Aurbach and was awarded the Robert Ross Leaving Scholarship. He was born of Irish parents in Dartford, Kent, England and he moved to Cork in 1973.

Susan was born in London but lived in Derbyshire for many years before moving to Cork with her husband.

Josef and Susan now live in Glanmire, just outside Cork City and exhibit regularly. They have work in private and public collections in Ireland, the UK and the USA. Recent purchases include 22 paintings for the Blackrock Credit Union in Cork, a commission presented to Sile de Valera by Cork's 96FM Radio and purchases by Michael McDowell (Irish Attorney General), Senator Máirin Quill and Peter Barry (owner of Barry's tea)s.

Susan's works are also to be seen in many public and private collections, including recent purchases by AIB, 66 South Mall, Cork for presentation to the Manager.

They are tutors for The Open College of the Arts (the UK's leading home-study College of the Arts) and they also run painting workshops and adult education classes in painting and drawing.

*Both Josef and Susan are available to undertake commissions of portraits, business premises, private homes and landscapes.
